To The Point PDX Staff Spotlight: Kathy Brown, Patient Care Coordinator Extraordinaire!

Kathy with Cleo the (occasional) clinic dog

What does a typical day look like for you?

I arrive about 30-minutes before patient appointments start for the day. I open up the clinic, put on soothing music, and check email and voicemail. I greet patients when they arrive and get them settled into the treatment room for the providers. I schedule patients for appointments. I also keep the rooms and clinic tidy and comfortable.

What do you enjoy most about working at the clinic?

I love meeting patients and seeing them heal with treatment. I also love the “vibe” of the clinic—calming music, soft colors and wonderful people!

What’s it like having Cleo in the office?

I love having Cleo with me. Our other dog, Lashka passed away in September from old age and it’s been comforting to have Cleo nearby as we heal together. Plus, she brings a lot of joy to people who meet her and that makes me so happy!

What’s something you learned since working at the clinic?

I’ve learned a lot about dry needling—a practice I hadn’t heard of before meeting Dr. Sarah and working here. I have received dry needling treatments from both Dr. Sarah and Christina and it's helped me so much!

What do you want people to know about or dry needling?

It works!! Don’t be afraid to try it and commit to a treatment plan. I’ve seen many patients overcome their pain with dry needling (and I’ve experienced it myself!).

What did you do before working at To The Point PDX?

I was a preschool teacher here in Portland—at the same school for 19 years! Early childhood education was my passion. I retired from teaching in 2022. I call my position at To The Point my “retirement job” and I love it!

What do you do in your free time?

I love being with my family. My husband Don and I have a vintage travel trailer that we like to camp in. Cleo likes it too! We love the beach & central Oregon the most! I also enjoy spending time with our two adult daughters who—lucky for me—live in the Portland area. I love reading, crafting, walking Cleo, and hitting up antique and thrift stores for vintage finds!
